About Brady

Brady McCarthy was born in 2002 with Down syndrome. He has two younger siblings, his sister, Alexx, and his brother, Bailey. Brady graduated high school with a NY Regents Diploma having been educated with supports in mainstream classes. He was captain of his high school wrestling team, an avid member of his high school theater program, and Unified basketball team.

In his town of Chappaqua, NY, Brady is known for his advocacy work, dressing as his character SuperBrady to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities. He has written two SuperBrady children's books with his sister, Alexx. He is a paid speaker at elementary schools where he reads from his books and answers questions from students. Brady is an assistant coach for youth wrestling, VIP AYSO Soccer and Basketball. Brady also loves to act and has had professional background acting roles in a Hallmark TV Movie and the Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin TV series.

Brady's recent passion has been creating artwork. It started when he drew a Woolley Mammoth, the mascot of Amherst College, where his brother attends school. Everyone was so impressed by it, he started to draw more. He finds a live photo that he likes and then draws free-hand his interpretation of the picture, completing his drawing by blending together colors. His sister, Alexx, then scans his picture into the computer and resizes it for his prints. Alexx collaborates with Brady by putting his artwork into designs for their t-shirts and tote bags.

Brady's advocacy for the inclusion of people with disabilities is a family affair. His sister and co-author, Alexx, has partnered with him to make the SuperBradyShop possible. His brother, Bailey, is Social Media Manager for the SuperBradyShop. He also often accompanies Brady to speak at elementary school assemblies and has created many short films to display Brady's acting talents that are showcased on Brady's YouTube channel @superbrady. HIs mom keeps up his website and does his marketing and business strategy. His dad is in charge of local sales for the SuperBradyShop and accompanies Brady to his sports events and his acting roles.

Whatever Brady has wanted to pursue over the years, his whole family gets behind to help make it happen, but it's Brady's perseverance, hard work and talent that make him successful. Brady is a role model for why it's important to not assume someone cannot do something because of what you presume is their lack of ability. Everyone has talents and something to offer their communities. We all want to feel like we belong and are respected. Brady hopes that by sharing his artwork with children, they will grow up surrounded by what is possible.
